JAMMU: As part of the Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan, awareness events were held today across Jammu district to combat drug abuse. A program was organised at Martyr Major Arvind Bazala HSS, RS Pura under Principal Neelam Gupta. Speakers included Dr. Anupriya (Health Department), Tara Chand (ZEPO), Intshtam-ul-Haq (Police), Priyanka Sharma, DharamPal Sharma and Tripta Kattal who presented Dogri poetry. Student Akul Lalotra delivered a speech, while Abhi and Sanjeev performed a dance promoting a drug-free life.
Attendees took a pledge to support the Nasha Mukt Bharat initiative. Officials from Excise, Social Welfare, School Development Committee, ZEO RS Pura and Rural Development were present. Government HSS Sai Kalan also hosted an awareness program under Vice Principal Sohan Singh Chib. Dr. Gagandeep Kour discussed drug effects and medical distinctions. Sohan Singh explained drug types and rehabilitation centers. Rawan Kumar spoke on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, while Chetna shared helpline numbers.
Tara Singh Choudhary, Ex-Vice Sarpanch, emphasised the role of sports in preventing drug abuse. Students presented a skit and a video about drug abuse was screened. The event saw participation from about 100 people, including students, teachers, volunteers and residents from Sai and Nikowal Panchayats. Similar awareness events were conducted at 18 panchayats in Jammu district today.
