KISHTWAR: A week-long Mega Surgical Camp, jointly organized by the Department of Health UT of Jammu and Kashmir, Rotary International, and the District Administration Kishtwar, concluded successfully here today at District Hospital. The camp was e-inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir UT Shri Manoj  Sinha on April 17, 2025.

Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Kumar Shavan today visited the camp to inspect the ongoing medical services and interacted with patients who underwent various surgical procedures. During his visit, he appreciated the efforts of the medical team and ensured that all necessary facilities were provided to the patients.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Rajinder Kumar briefed the Deputy Commissioner about the achievements of the camp. It was informed that a total 226 patients underwent successful surgeries for various ailments, which included Cataract Surgeries: 156, Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy (Lap Chole): 46, Hernia Repairs: 2, Hysterectomies: 19 and Orthopedic Surgeries: 3.

A team of 11 specialist surgeons from across the country participated in the camp, delivering advanced surgical care to residents of this remote region. Their contribution was instrumental in addressing long-pending medical cases and enhancing the accessibility of specialized healthcare.

The initiative has been widely lauded for its impact in strengthening the healthcare delivery system in far-flung areas and bridging the gap in specialist medical services. Present on the occasion were ACR Idrees Lone, Medical Superintendent DH Dr. Yudhvir Singh Kotwal, BMO and other dedicated staff of the District Hospital.
