KUPWARA: In line with the directions of the Deputy Commissioner, (DC), Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan, World Environment Day was celebrated today at the Administrative Complex Handwara with great enthusiasm and participation from various stakeholders.

The function was presided over by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Handwara, Javed Naseem Masoodi. The event witnessed active involvement from students of Monarch School, who participated in an awareness rally highlighting the importance of environmental conservation.

The rally, which passed through the main avenues of Handwara, aimed to spread awareness among the public about sustainable practices and the urgent need to protect our environment. Students held placards and chanted slogans emphasizing clean and green surroundings.

Following the rally, the students were given a guided tour of the Administrative Complex, where they interacted with officials and learned about various government initiatives related to environmental protection.

ADC appreciated the efforts of the school and lauded the students for their enthusiasm and awareness. He emphasized the role of youth in building a sustainable future and urged everyone to adopt eco-friendly practices in daily life. The event concluded with a pledge to protect and preserve the environment, followed by a tree plantation drive in the complex premises.
