JAMMU: Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Er. Gulam Ali Khatana, chaired a high-level meeting to review the progress of the Forest Rights Act (FRA) and other schemes directly benefiting the tribal communities of Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary, Forest Department, Ms. Sheetal Nanda, PCCF J&K Mr. B. K. Singh, CCF Jammu, and other senior officers.
During the meeting, the MP sought detailed information about forest produce, implementation of the FRA, and the issuance of No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for seasonal migrants and tribal communities. Emphasizing the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Er. Khatana stressed the importance of ensuring a hassle-free and inclusive development process for tribals in the Union Territory.
He called upon the Forest Department to adopt pro-technology, pro-animal, and pro-people policies to achieve sustainable development. The MP underscored the need for efficient implementation of government schemes and strengthening the rights of tribal communities while protecting the environment and wildlife. The meeting concluded with directions for resolving tribal-related issues promptly and fostering a collaborative approach for their socio-economic upliftment.
