JAMMU: Apni Party Provincial President, Jammu, and Former Minister, S. Manjit Singh has demanded regularization of all the daily wagers. He also expressed serious concern over the unprecedented rise in unemployment among the educated youth in Jammu and Kashmir. As per a press release, a meeting was organized here at the Party Office, Gandhi Nagar to discuss organisational structure and take a review of the political scenario.
Besides, the Party leaders expressed their concern over the plight of the educated, who are still unemployed in J&K and the job prospects for the youth have reduced to almost nil. âThe unemployed youth have become overaged in absence of the Govt jobs as the J&K Govt has yet to advertise the vacant posts to the recruitment agencies,â said S. Manjit Singh, following the concern raised by the leaders.
He said that it appears that the Govt is unaware about the growing unemployment among the youth in J&K. âThe Party believes that a comprehensive employment policy for the unemployed youth can be framed to redress the issues,â he said, extending support to the protesting JKPSI aspirants. Opposing employment to the outsider in the Govt sector, he said that the local unemployed youth should be provided employment in Jammu and Kashmir. Meanwhile, he also discussed the issues of daily wagers, demanding their regularization.
âThese daily wagers have become the backbone of every department, and they do work 24/7, during peak hours. However, the Govt has not decided anything about their fate. The Party believes that they shall be regularized, and minimum wage act should be implemented in J&K,â he said. He further stated that more than 61000 daily wagers have been working in various Govt Departments since the last 20-25 years. However, their salaries are being irregularly released. He demanded that the wages of the daily wagers should be streamlined and released regularly.
