BANDIPORA: Acting on the issues raised by general public during the Public Outreach programme held yesterday at Town Hall Bandipora, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, today chaired a meeting to review the functioning and repair of street lights in Bandipora town and deliberate on the regulation of E-Auto services and roadside parking.
During the meeting, it was noted that while street lights had been installed at various locations across Bandipora town, a majority of them were presently defunct and required immediate attention. The DC directed the concerned departments to prioritise the restoration of street lights at key locations, including Nusso Stand, Jamia Masjid, Street Vendor Market and Kaloosa Tri-Junction.
The DC directed the Power Development Department (PDD) to submit estimates for the repair of High-Mast lights. Regarding the repair of antique lights, it was decided that the matter would be taken up with NHPC. PDD was also directed to hold deliberations with the concerned contractor for undertaking the repair and restoration of defunct street lights.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Municipal Council Bandipora, was directed to submit estimates for the required repair works and ensure timely action in coordination with the concerned departments.
The meeting also deliberated on the issues concerning E-Autos and roadside parking, which were also raised during the Public Outreach programme. The DC stressed the need for effective regulation and directed the concerned authorities to conduct enforcement drives against illegal and unauthorised roadside parking. She further emphasised that the existing car parking facilities must be utilised effectively and warned that punitive action would be taken against violators.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Executive Engineer PDD, ARTO Bandipora, Chief Executive Officer Municipal Council Bandipora, President Traders Federation and other concerned officers.
