KULGAM: Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Shahzad Alam, today chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the progress and implementation of Mission YUVA in the district, with a focus on transparent beneficiary selection, effective handholding and timely establishment of sanctioned units.
The meeting was attended by Rahil Amin, Assistant Director Employment, Kulgam; Iftikhar Ahmad Padder, Lead District Manager (LDM), Kulgam; Cluster Head, J&K Bank, Kulgam; besides officers and officials from the District Employment & Counselling Centre (DE&CC), JKEDI, J&K Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) and the Mission YUVA team.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner undertook a detailed, indicator-wise review of the implementation of Mission YUVA in the district. The discussions covered the status of SBDU verification, rejection cases, capacity-building programmes, the role and performance of Motivators, and the onboarding of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) for establishment of income-generating activities under the mission.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned officers to ensure that all applications are scrutinised and processed strictly as per the prescribed guidelines. He stressed that transparency, fairness and proper verification must be maintained at every stage of beneficiary selection and approval.
While reviewing cases sanctioned under Mission YUVA for commercial vehicles, the DC directed the Assistant Director Employment to ensure close and regular monitoring of the establishment and operationalisation of the sanctioned units. He emphasised that the mission must result in sustainable livelihood opportunities, viable.
