In loving memory of Dr. Priya Ranjan: A mentor who treated me like family

REASI: The 10th Defence Forces Veterans’ Day was observed today at the Zila Sainik Welfare Office, Reasi, to honour the courage, valour and selfless service of veterans of the Indian Armed Forces.

The programme was attended by Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Nidhi Malik, as Chief Guest, along with officials of the Zila Sainik Welfare Board and a large number of ex-servicemen.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner paid rich tributes to the veterans for their exemplary service to the nation and reiterated the District Administration’s commitment towards the welfare and well-being of ex-servicemen and their families.

The event also served as a platform for interaction with veterans and dissemination of information regarding various welfare schemes and facilities available for the veteran community.

During the interaction, the ex-servicemen apprised the Deputy Commissioner of issues concerning them. They highlighted the requirement of funds for renovation of the Zila Sainik Welfare Office and raised the demand for allotment of land to strengthen welfare infrastructure for veterans.

The Deputy Commissioner assured that the District Administration remains committed to the redressal of genuine grievances of ex-servicemen on priority and to ensuring that their welfare-related concerns are addressed in a timely and effective manner.
