BARAMULLA: As part of the calendar of activities issued by J&K Legal Services Authority, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Baramulla today observed ‘Human Rights Day’ in the ADR Centre, District Court Complex Baramulla.

The programme, organized under the guidance of Jawad Ahmad, Principal District & Sessions Judge (Chairman DLSA) Baramulla and under the supervision of Javid Ahmad Parry, Sub Judge/ Secretary DLSA Baramulla, was attended by officers of LADC, Panel Lawyers and Law Students from Sopore Law College, Staff Members and PLVs of DLSA Baramulla.

During the event, Secretary DLSA gave a brief outline and objective of universal declaration of human rights and highlighted the purpose of observing Human Rights Day. He said that this day is observed to promote human rights awareness, equality and dignity for all.  It also aims to educate young people about human rights and significance of these values.

The other speakers who enriched the audience about the importance of observing ‘Human Rights Day’ included Adv. Zahoor Ahmad Mir (Chief LADC), Adv. Ashfaq Hussain Wani (Deputy LADC), Adv. Syed Sibtain Geelani, and Law Students from Sopore Law College who spoke on diverse topics related to basic human rights.

At the end, Adv. Syed Sibtain Geelani, Panel Lawyers DLSA Baramulla reaffirmed the importance of committing and dedicating oneself towards safeguarding and protecting human dignity of people irrespective of their status. Besides, Tehsil Legal Services Committees of District Baramulla also observed ‘World Human Rights Day’ by organizing awareness programmes at their respective Headquarters.
