BARAMULLA: Continuing its sustained crackdown on illegal mining, Police in Baramulla, in close coordination with the Mining Department, conducted a major joint enforcement drive along the Goigam–Pinjoora axis. The operation resulted in the seizure of six tractors involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
Acting on credible inputs and as part of ongoing efforts to curb unauthorized mining activities, the joint team intercepted and seized six tractors found engaged in violations of the law. The operation underscores the commitment of J&K Police and the Mining Department to protecting natural resources and ensuring strict enforcement of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act (MMDR Act).
Necessary legal action has been initiated against the violators under the provisions of the MMDR Act, and further proceedings are underway. Police reiterates its firm resolve to act decisively against illegal mining and appeals to the public to report any such unlawful activities to the nearest police station. Strict enforcement drives will continue across the district in close coordination with the Mining Department to safeguard the environment and preserve public resources.
