In loving memory of Dr. Priya Ranjan: A mentor who treated me like family

UDHAMPUR: As part of a nation-wide initiative, the schools across Udhampur—including Government Higher Secondary School Chanunta, Government High School Jib, Government Higher Secondary School Sudh Mahadev and Government High School Dhandal organized special programmes to commemorate the 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, a pioneering statesman, educationist and architect of modern India’s nationalist vision.

These events formed part of a two-year nationwide celebration from July 6, 2025, to July 6, 2027, aimed at honoring Dr. Mookerjee’s enduring legacy in education, constitutional development, national integration and regional progress. The district-level initiatives, organized under the guidance of the District Administration Udhampur and the Chief Education Officer, aim to inspire pride in his ideals and connect youth to India's historical and cultural roots.

At GHS Jib, Government Higher Secondary School Sudh Mahadev and several other institutions, students, teachers and invited speakers participated with great enthusiasm. The programmes featured speeches, presentations, and discussions on Dr. Mookerjee’s life, ideology and his pivotal role in shaping India’s post-independence political discourse.

Faculty members highlighted his commitment to unity, cultural integrity and national service. Students were encouraged to draw inspiration from his values and to contribute meaningfully to society. These events served not only to pay tribute to Dr. Mookerjee’s contributions but also to foster historical awareness and patriotism among the younger generation across the district.
