- 5 benches resolve 850 cases; Rs.5,13,78,798 realized as settlement amount
KATHUA: Under the patronage and able guidance of Justice Tashi Rabston, Patron-in-Chief, the 3rd National Lok Adalat of the calendar year 2024 was held today at District Headquarter Kathua as well as all the Muffasil Courts of District Kathua. Five Benches were constituted for settling the referred cases.
The Bench No. 1 consisted of Jatinder Singh Jamwal, Principal District & Sessions Judge and Pravin Pandoh, Addl. District & Sessions Judge; Bench No. 2 comprised of Munish Kumar Manhas, Chief Judicial Magistrat and Cheena Sumbria, Munsiff JMIC; Bench No. 3 included Surinder Kumar Thapa, Spl. Mobile Magistrate and Neena Thakur, District Mobile Magistrate; Bench No. 4 consisted of Poonam Gupta, Addl. Special Mobile Magistrate, Billawar and J.S Bhadwal, Advocate Billawar, Bench No.5 comprised of Rimpi Rani, Munsiff JMIC, Hiranagar and N.K Gupta, Advocate.
The 3rd National Lok Adalat was held across the district wherein different kinds of matters were placed before the Benches including cases pertaining to Hindu Marriage Act (HMA), Motor Vehicle Act, MACT Cases, Bank Recovery (both pre- litigation and post-litigation) matters, Criminal Compoundable, and also Traffic Challans.
Advocates, Litigants, people from various departments, Senior Citizens participated. A total number of 1217 cases were taken up for amicable settlement out of which 850 cases were settled and an amount of Rs. 5,13,78,798 was realized as settlement amount.
