- NC committed to empower women & securing their rightful place in society, says Zahir
JAMMU: Women must emerge as pivotal agents of change in the upcoming Panchayat and Urban Local Body elections in Jammu and Kashmir. This was stated by Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC), while addressing a women functionaries meeting at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan, Jammu. The meeting, held under the chairmanship of Bimla Luthra, Ex-MLA, emphasized the crucial role of women in the socio-political transformation of the region. Zahir Abdullah and Zameer Abdullah a dynamic youth leaders of the National Conference, was also present.
Addressing the meeting, Rattan Lal Gupta highlighted the Party's unwavering commitment in empowering women across all spheres of life. He urged women in J&K to come forward and contribute to strengthening the National Conference, reiterating that under the leadership of Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah, the Party would ensure adequate representation for women in the political domain.
âOur party has a legacy of prioritizing women's empowerment, and we will continue this tradition with even greater resolve,â he said, adding that the upcoming elections provide an opportunity for women to assert their influence in shaping the future of Jammu and Kashmir.
Zahir Abdullah, in his address, recalled the remarkable contributions of Madr-e-Meharban, who played a historic role in the socio-political movement of J&K and championed female literacy and empowerment of weaker sections of society. âThe National Conference has a proud legacy of standing by women, irrespective of region, religion, caste, or creed,â he stated.
He said that the National Conference Government headed by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will remain steadfast in its mission to empower women and ensure their rightful place in society, emphasizing that the Party has always championed the cause of womenâs rights and will continue to prioritize their inclusion and representation in every sphere of life.
The meeting concluded with a renewed pledge by the party to continue its efforts toward empowering women and addressing their concerns, ensuring they play a pivotal role in the democratic process of Jammu and Kashmir.
