KUPWARA: Under the supervision of SSP Kupwara and in close coordination with the District Administration Kupwara, J&K police has intensified its action against drug peddling and narcotics-related activities across the district Kupwara as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukht Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan. Following the pledge taken on 11-04-2026, strict action has been initiated against drug peddlers and hotspots identified for narcotics activities. As part of these sustained efforts, a total of 09 NDPS cases have been registered in the district.

Special focus has been laid on identified narcotics hotspots, where intensified checking and surveillance have been carried out to curb illegal drug trade. In order to track down offenders, process of hue and cry notices has been initiated against absconders involved in NDPS cases, and efforts are underway to apprehend them at the earliest. Additionally, verification and checking of non-local population is being conducted to rule out any involvement in narcotics-related activities and to ensure strict vigilance across the district.

Alongside enforcement measures, Police has been conducting daily awareness rallies since 11-04-2026 to educate the public, particularly the youth, about the dangers of drug abuse. Regular inspections of medical shops are also being carried out to prevent misuse of pharmaceutical drugs. J&K Police urges the general public to cooperate and share any information related to drug peddling with the authorities.
