• Awareness programme and anti-polythene drive conducted

BARAMULLA: In continuation of its sustained public outreach and awareness initiatives under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Police in Baramulla organised a comprehensive drug awareness programme at Government Higher Secondary School Nowgam Kandi.

The programme was aimed at sensitising students and members of the teaching faculty about the growing threat of drug abuse and its serious impact on society, particularly on the youth. During the interaction, officers highlighted the importance of staying away from narcotic substances, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and contributing positively towards building a drug-free society. Students were encouraged to remain vigilant and play an active role in spreading awareness against the menace of drugs within their communities.

The event witnessed active participation from students, school staff, and local representatives, reflecting strong community support towards the collective fight against drug abuse. Meanwhile, as part of ongoing civic and environmental awareness initiatives, an Anti-Polythene drive was also conducted at Shumlaran Chandoosa. During the drive, approximately 500 grams of banned polythene material was seized from violators and a fine of â‚č200 was imposed under relevant provisions.

The drive was carried out to promote environmental responsibility and discourage the use of polythene, which poses a serious threat to public health and ecological balance. J&K Police remain committed towards ensuring a safe, healthy, and responsible society through continuous awareness programmes, enforcement drives, and active public participation.
