• Police continues anti-drug drive in Pulwama |  | Wild cannabis destroyed at Urwan

PULWAMA: As part of the ongoing 100 Days Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Police in Pulwama organised a major anti-drug awareness programme at Government Higher Secondary School Achan, with SSP Pulwama Ms. Tanushree-IPS personally leading the initiative to sensitize students and youth against the growing menace of drug abuse.

The programme witnessed active participation from students, teaching faculty, and senior officers of District Police Pulwama. Addressing the gathering, SSP Pulwama emphasized the urgent need to protect the younger generation from the dangers of narcotic substances and called upon students to become responsible citizens and active ambassadors of the anti-drug campaign.

During the programme, students were sensitized about the legal, social, psychological, and health-related consequences of substance abuse. SSP Pulwama advised the youth to remain focused on education, sports, and positive activities while staying away from drugs and other harmful practices. She further stressed that collective efforts by police, parents, teachers, and society are essential to eliminate the drug menace from the district.

An interactive session was also held during which students actively participated by raising questions and sharing their views regarding prevention of drug abuse. Awareness material carrying anti-drug messages was distributed among the participants to reinforce the objectives of the campaign.

Meanwhile, continuing the anti-drug drive under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Pulwama Police along with Revenue officials visited the graveyard area at Urwan, where wild cannabis plants growing naturally were identified and destroyed on the spot to prevent their misuse and eradicate illegal growth from the area. J&K Police reiterates its firm commitment towards making society drug-free through sustained awareness drives, preventive action, and active public participation.
