JAMMU: Department of Pediatrics at Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences & Hospital, Jammu, in association with the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP), successfully conducted a Neonatal Resuscitation Programme (NRP) on December 6, 2024. The program aimed to equip medical and paramedical personnel with the necessary skills to assess and resuscitate newborns if required.
The training was led by a team of instructors, including Dr. Ravinder K. Gupta (Lead Instructor and Head of the Department of Pediatrics, ASCOMS), Dr. Pankaj Gupta (Senior Pediatrician at Sarwal Hospital), Dr. Manoj Sharma(Assistant Professor), and Dr. Sushil Sharma( Assistant Professor).
A total of 24 participants, comprising doctors and nursing staff from ASCOMS and other hospitals, attended the program. The participants were trained in the latest techniques and best practices in neonatal resuscitation, ensuring they are well-prepared to handle any emergencies during childbirth. Dr. Rabinder Rattanpal, Medical superintendant ASCOMS, who was the Chief Guest inaugurated the occasion and stressed upon the importance of attaining necessary skills in newborn resuscitation. He also appreciated the department of pediatrics in conducting such activities.
Dr. Ravinder K. Gupta emphasized the importance of such programs in reducing neonatal mortality and improving the overall quality of care for newborns. He expressed his gratitude to all the participants and instructors for their active involvement and dedication.
Dr. Pavan Malhotra, Director Principal, ASCOMS appreciated Dr. Ravinder K Gupta and his team for successfully conducted the Neonatal Resuscitation Programme (NRP). He also said that conducting such type of program is very useful and important for medical and paramedical personnel.
The program received positive feedback from all attendees, who found the training to be highly informative and practical. The success of this NRP program highlights ASCOMS' commitment to continuing medical education and improving neonatal care in the region. Dr Sanjeev K Digra and Dr Neeraj Gupta are the state coordinators of NRP and are instrumental in conducting NRP.
