JAMMU: In a decisive stand against what it termed an “unpatriotic move,” the BJP Kashmir Displaced District today held a press conference followed by a protest against the National Conference (NC) for passing a controversial resolution against the abrogation of Article 370. BJP leaders condemned the NC’s attempt to reverse the historic decision, which was intended to bring integration and progress to the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
The press conference, held under the leadership of BJP District President Chand Ji Bhat, was addressed by key leaders of the Kashmir Displaced District (KDD), including Seh-Prabhari Hira Lal Bhat, General Secretary Moti Lal Bhat, Vice President Chetan Wanchoo, Secretary Roop Krishan, Yuva Morcha President Rohit Ganjoo, and other KDD members. The BJP leaders voiced their strong opposition to NC’s stance and reiterated the party’s unyielding commitment to the national cause and the protection of India’s sovereignty.
“Our party has always prioritized the nation’s interests and stood against any attempt to compromise them. The ruling alliance, however, appears to be driven by a desire to create unrest in the Union Territory once again,” the leaders stated.
The BJP leaders also criticized the deputy Chief minister for tabling the resolution in support of Article 370, labeling him a “Jai Chand”—a historical reference to betrayal. “This move is nothing short of a betrayal of the nationalist people of Jammu & Kashmir. It will not be tolerated, as it openly disregards the sentiments of those who have supported the abrogation of Article 370 for the sake of unity and progress,” they said.
They further emphasized that Article 370 is now a part of history and any attempt by the NC to revive it through such resolutions will be met with strong resistance from BJP and nationalist-minded citizens. The BJP Kashmir Displaced District firmly stated that this resolution is a dangerous attempt to revive separatist tendencies, which will only isolate the NC further from the people it claims to represent.
“Article 370’s abrogation marked a new chapter for Jammu & Kashmir, bringing with it opportunities for growth, unity, and security. The people have embraced this new beginning, and no attempts by the NC or any other political entity will turn them back to a regressive past,” the leaders concluded.
With unwavering resolve, the BJP Kashmir Displaced District stands against any force or political maneuver that threatens the integrity and unity of the nation. Today’s protest sent a clear message: any action undermining the constitutional changes in Jammu & Kashmir will be resisted by the people and their elected representatives.
