AWANTIPORA: As part of the university's Industry Connect initiative, the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) organized an industrial visit for students to the Upper Sindh Hydroelectric Power Plant (USHP-II) in Kangan. The visit aimed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical experience.
During the tour, students observed the real-time operations of hydroelectric power generation and explored essential components of the plant, including the dam, penstock, turbine mechanisms, and tailrace systems that regulate water flow and optimize energy production. This hands-on experience provided students with a comprehensive understanding of the hydroelectric process, from water intake to power generation, highlighting the crucial role of automation in effective plant management.
