- BJP strongly denounces the passage of resolution to restore Article 370
JAMMU: Sat Sharma, President, of J&K BJP, strongly denouncing the passage of the resolution to restore Article 370 said that NC-Congress has demeaned the Parliament and the Constitution of India. “NC-Congress is pursuing a divisive, and dangerous agenda, which will risk the ongoing socio-economic development in the region along with the safety of the people”, said Sat Sharma.
Sat Sharma, President, J&K BJP, accompanied by Kavinder Gupta, former Deputy Chief Minister, Adv Sunil Sethi, Chief Spokesperson, Girdhari Lal Raina, Spokesperson, and Dr. Pardeep Mahotra, Media Secretary of the party, was addressing a Press Conference at J&K BJP headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
Reacting sharply, Sat Sharma said that the passage of the resolution was unparliamentary, which was first presented unlawfully, and then passed without discussion in the House in the presence of the Speaker of the House. “The NC-Congress has put a question mark on the Parliament and the Constitution of India”, said Sat Sharma who added that the elected representatives should follow the democratic way in their actions.
He also said that the NC-led government has done an act of ‘Breach of Privilege’ and said that this was not a democratic way to pass the resolution. He questioned the ‘Unilateral Removal’ term used in the resolution and said that the abrogation of the draconian Articles 370 & 35 (a) was done after discussion in both Houses.
He said that the issue has been taken very seriously by the nationalist population of Jammu & Kashmir and strongly said that Article 370 is part of History now. “Congress is a nationwide party, not just limited to J&K. It must make its stand crystal clear that whether it also wants to bring back Article 370 and throw the residents of Jammu & Kashmir into the state of terror and blasts?", asked Sat Sharma.
He asked the Congress whether the Congress supports the theory of ‘nation within a nation’. He said that the benefit of the 370 benefitted a hundred families only and those families now want to push back the state for their benefits. He also said that with a mere 23 percent votes in the recent Assembly elections, NC has not received enough majority in the House to push the important decisions in the House.
Sat Sharma said that the extended Assembly elections were completed successfully without a drop of blood, but the shrewd politicians are not happy to see the prevailing peace in the region. “For their personal benefits certain influential families of Jammu & Kashmir want to reverse the development and push the region into a state of turmoil, where every visitor was afraid for their life”, said Sat Sharma.
