- Assesses progress under FCS&CA, Agriculture, Animal husbandry & Credit linked welfare schemes
BUDGAM: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Akshay Labroo today convened a comprehensive review meeting to assess the progress of various beneficiary oriented schemes under the sectors of agriculture, food, civil supplies, animal husbandry and various credit linked schemes. The aim of the meeting was to ensure 100% saturation in these schemes and cover all the eligible beneficiaries within District Budgam.
Besides Chief Planning Officer, Officers from Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Lead Bank Manager and allied departments were also present. The agenda of the meeting was to evaluate the implementation and performance of numerous schemes across the district.
During the review, the DC reviewed the distribution of food supplies under NFSA, ensuring that eligible beneficiaries receive their entitlements timely. He emphasized the importance of maintaining transparency and efficiency in delivering essential food resources to the district’s citizens. Further the DC reviewed PM Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME), the officials presented progress on PMFME, focusing on assisting small and micro food processors with financial, technical, and business support.
The DC urged for enhanced outreach to maximize scheme benefits among small-scale entrepreneurs in Budgam. At the outset, progress on Artificial Insemination (AI) and Animal Vaccination under NADCP were also reviewed in order to boost livestock productivity. The DC evaluated the progress of Artificial Insemination services and vaccination drives under the National Animal Disease Control Programme (NADCP). He encouraged the Animal Husbandry Department to intensify vaccination coverage for disease prevention in livestock.
The meeting discussed the Daksh Kisan initiative aimed at building capacity among farmers through training in modern agricultural practices. DC stressed the need to equip farmers with the skills necessary to increase productivity and resilience. Reviewing the HADP, the DC called for ensuring that HADP’s benefit reaches all eligible farmers effectively.
The DC monitored the ongoing coverage under PMFBY 2023-24, stressing the importance of timely claim settlements. He also directed officials to start preparations for the upcoming PMFBY 2024-25 season to secure the district’s crops against adverse conditions. The meeting was also informed regarding the Kisan Khidmat Ghar schemes (KKGS), which aims to establish rural service centers for farmers. The DC called for streamlined services at these centers to ensure easy access to government schemes and
The review also included the status of applications under Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF) Application- a scheme dedicated to creating post-harvest infrastructure and supply chains. The DC emphasized expediting the processing of received applications to support agri-businesses and farmers in establishing robust infrastructure.
