SAMBA: To address the pressing issue of drug abuse, Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma on Tuesday convened a district-level meeting under the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) framework to fortify preventive and enforcement strategies in Samba District. The significant meeting united key stakeholders across multiple sectors to review and amplify the district’s efforts in combating drug-related challenges.
Emphasizing the significant role of educational institutions, the DC directed the Chief Education Officer (CEO) to organize a series of seminars and special lectures across schools and colleges to educate students about the dangers of substance abuse. Sharma underscored that the students and parents must be actively engaged, promoting a community-wide commitment to a drug-free lifestyle.
Law enforcement agencies were instructed to intensify their vigilance through random inspections in public areas. DC Samba emphasized the need for a zero-tolerance approach, urging swift and decisive action against drug-related activities.
During the meeting, various departments briefed the Deputy Commissioner on ongoing initiatives aimed at drug prevention, including community outreach programs, awareness campaigns, and efforts to tackle both the supply and demand aspects of the drug problem. He encouraged departments to work in synergy, strengthening the district's approach to curbing this societal menace.
The NCORD meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police Samba, Sh. Vinay Kumar; Additional Deputy Commissioner Samba, Jagdish Singh; ACR; SDMs; and other district officers.
