KISHTWAR: District Development Commissioner Kishtwar Rajesh Kumar Shavan today chaired a significant meeting with the functionaries of District Red Cross Society, local NGOs and district officials to review the society’s initiatives and enhance its role in disaster response and community welfare.
As the chairman of the District Red Cross Society, the DDC emphasized the critical importance of the Red Cross in saving lives during disasters and urged participants to amplify public awareness about the society’s role. He underscored the need for increased contributions to sustain emergency response efforts and assist those affected by calamities, disasters, and other urgent situations.
A focal point of the meeting was the discussion on fundraising strategies. To strengthen the society’s financial base, the DDC directed the installation of donation boxes in all public offices across the district. He encouraged public officials and the general public to contribute generously, with an initial goal of raising Rs.1.5 crore from departmental staff as a contribution towards humanity.
He also stressed the need to establish a shelter home for homeless individuals, with proper care provided by the administration as a small gesture from our side. The DC directed for holding a District Red Cross mela in the near future. Special emphasis was laid on reuniting orphans and instructions given to concerned officers for holding meetings at both the Subdivision and Tehsil levels.
The meeting was attended by ACD Kishtwar Phulail Singh, DSWO Kishtwar Zubair Ahmed, Tehsildar Kishtwar Nirbhay Sharma, Tehsildar Nagseni Mohd Rafie Naik, Tehsildar Mughal Maidan Parvez Ahmed Butt, Dy. SP DAR, Executive Engineers, Dy. CMO, Secretary Red Cross Society, and representatives from other key departments.
