JAMMU: The Department of Sheep Husbandry Reasi on Tuesday organized an awareness camp here to educate local breeders/ farmers about the sector centric Government Schemes. Director Sheep Husbandry Department Jammu Dr. Syed Moin ul Haq was the chief guest. He interacted with the breeders addressing their queries and explaining the benefits of schemes and process of filling applications. Encouraging the attendees, he urged them to take full advantage of the government schemes.
He exhorted the people to come forward to avail the benefits of the employment generating schemes of the department. He asked officers to encourage formation of FPOs, promote Livestock Insurance under NLM and KCC and strive for effective implementation of the schemes to double the farmers’ income. He informed the participants about the availability of new sheep breeding techniques such as Artificial Insemination, synchronization of estrus and embryo transfer and value addition of the products and also stressed on the machine shearing.
The problems put forth by the breeders were redressed on the spot by the Director after giving a patient hearing. He assured farmers that other issues will also be redressed as per laid down norms in a time bound manner. Dr. Sarfraz Naseem Chowdhary, District Sheep Husbandry Officer Reasi and Dr. Ashish Mahajan, Deputy Director Sheep Breeding Farm Reasi were also present on the occasion.
