SRINAGAR: Cracking a whip on illegal mining of minerals, Police have arrested 05 persons and seized 06 vehicles involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Budgam. A police party of Police Post Waterhail, arrested five persons and seized six vehicles, 01 LNT and 05 tippers bearing registration numbers (JK14C-1705, JK03B-9020, JK05G-5212, JK13-1231 and JK03B-2072) for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in area of Samson Khansahib. The accused persons have been identified as Tariq Ahmad Pandit resident of Kanoora Khansahab, Ishfaq Ahmad Ganie, Abdul Majeed Dar, Sameer Ahmad Ahangar and Shabir Ahmad Dar all residents of Sholipora Budgam.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Khansahib and investigation has been initiated. Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are appealed to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
