JAMMU: Terracotta art in Jammu and Kashmir, reflects the region's rich history and diverse cultural heritage. Terracotta artifacts, including pottery, sculptures, and architectural elements, are integral to the cultural Identity of the region, often featuring motifs, designs and patterns inspired by local traditions and folklore. In order to revive the terracotta art of Jammu and Kashmir, Indian Council of Social Science Research (GoI) New Delhi has granted a major research project to Department of Educational Studies, Central University of Jammu, titled as Promoting Swavlambhi Bharat by Branding Terracotta Art of Jammu and Kashmir:

A Roadmap to Viksit Bharat with a purpose to identify the possible causes of extinction of this art form followed by the mechanism for revival of terracotta art work in the region. This Project will provide an opportunity to profile the Terracotta artists and Terracotta art form in different regions of Jammu and Kashmir by identifying its historical and social positions in the region.This project is a very significant research study sanction to the project team Prof. Ritu Bakshi, Prof. Asit K. Mantry, Prof. J. N. Baliya, Dr Kiran, Dr Aman, Dr Ravi Vanguri, Dr Yad Ram, Dr Mohan Galgotra, Mr. Puneet Sharma, Ms. Shivani Sharma, Ms. Sveta Sharma.

In this context, Department of Educational Studies, Central University of Jammu organized a Consultative Meet and Micro Workshop with different stakeholders and experts including Mr. S.M Sahani Former Director Tourism Jammu, Mr. Javaid Rahi, Secretary Kala Kenda, Jammu and Kashmir, Prof. Surjeet Singh, IMFA University of Jammu, Mr. K.K Sharma, Former Director, Directorate of Floriculture J&K, Ms. Ekshu Sharma, Assistant Director Handicraft Jammu, Dr. Mohit Sharma, Faculty Department of PPPA, Prof. Ashwani Kumar Nanda, Dean and Head Department of Economics along with the project team and research staff. Welcoming the members of the consultative meet and micro workshop, Prof. J.N. Baliya, Department of Educational Studies, Central University of Jammu shared the purpose, methodology and expected outcomes of the project. ]

He also sought the cooperation and valuable inputs from all the stakeholders in order to build up a comprehensive road map to complete the research project with the desirable outcomes to be accomplished. Mr. Puneet Sharma, Research Assistant of the Project gave a detailed Presentation of the project to all the stakeholders and experts leading to a detailed discussion with the active participation of the stakeholders present in the meeting. Discussion followed with another session regarding the construction of the tools for the data collection of the project. In which Prof.Ashwani Nanda, Dean and Head Department of Economics, Central University of Jammu and Dr. Mohit Sharma, Faculty Department of PPPA, CU Jammu along with other members were present in the meeting.

Consultative meet and workshop ended with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Aman, Faculty, Department of Educational studies, CU Jammu of the project in which he formally thanked all the stakeholders and experts and also appreciated Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Central University of Jammu for his motivation.
