The Survival Fight of JK Monitor : For 16 years, JK Monitor has chronicled Jammu and Kashmir with integrity. Since 2010, I have steered its newsroom alongside our visionary Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan (IIT Kharagpur alumnus, University of Maryland Ph.D.), who treated me like a brother and mentor. His tragic demise in October 2026 left a severe financial and operational vacuum. Without urgent support, our 24/7 news portal risks permanently shutting down after November 2026, remaining only as a static digital archive. RAJOURI: The District Administration Rajouri, in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department, today organised the District-Level Talent Hunt Finale here at Government PG College. The event was hosted under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) campaign.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from talented youth from across the district, showcasing their talent in singing, instrumental music, art and craft and other art forms.

District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) Abdul Raheem formally welcomed the guests and the audience and highlighted the significance of the BBBP initiative in promoting gender equality and empowering the girl child through such platforms.

Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma appreciated the Social Welfare Department and other stakeholders for successfully organising the event. “The talent hunt programmes were conducted at the tehsil level across various subdivisions of the district to identify and nurture local talent,” he said and added that the best participants from different categories were shortlisted for the district-level finale, providing them a bigger platform to demonstrate their abilities.

Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC), Malikzada Sheraz-ul-Haq also addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of such initiatives in fostering creativity and confidence among youth, especially young girls.

The designated experts, including Chief Education Officer Mohammad Hafeez & A.P. Khaleeq Ahmed also shared his valuable insights, encouraging participants to hone their skills and strive for excellence.

A special highlight of the programme was the release of a jingle on the theme of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, composed by the District Information Centre (DIC)  to spread awareness about the scheme.

At the culmination of the programme, the top three participants in each category were felicitated for their exceptional performances. Among others present on the occasion were Principal Government PG College Anwar Shah and district and sectoral officers.
