The Survival Fight of JK Monitor : For 16 years, JK Monitor has chronicled Jammu and Kashmir with integrity. Since 2010, I have steered its newsroom alongside our visionary Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan (IIT Kharagpur alumnus, University of Maryland Ph.D.), who treated me like a brother and mentor. His tragic demise in October 2026 left a severe financial and operational vacuum. Without urgent support, our 24/7 news portal risks permanently shutting down after November 2026, remaining only as a static digital archive. We appeal to well-wishers to extend a helping hand to keep our active newsroom alive. Support Us: WhatsApp: +91-9906103001 | Email: journalistajmerwani@gmail.com

KUPWARA: The District Administration Kupwara has launched a mass awareness campaign regarding Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) schemes. These schemes were launched with the objective of providing life and accident insurance cover of Rs.2 lakh to the beneficiary. The schemes are particularly targeted at the poor and underprivileged sections of the society with an aim to offer financial security in case of death or disability.

To ensure grassroots level coverage of the beneficiaries under PMJJBY and PMSBY, the District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan has issued a Circular regarding conduct of Block wise awareness cum enrollment campaign to cover the targeted beneficiaries. Nodal Officer for every block has also been designated to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the awareness camps.

Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Kupwara, who is also the Nodal Officer for conduct of the campaign in Kupwara Block, today organized an awareness cum enrollment camp at Town Hall Kupwara. The camp witnessed the participation of a large number of stakeholders including Bankers, Anganwari Workers, VLWs, GRs and officials from line departments and general public.

Addressing the camp, the ACD said that PMJJBY and PMSBY are two social security schemes launched by the Government of India to provide affordable insurance coverage to people, especially from lower-income groups. He highlighted the benefits of these schemes for the beneficiaries especially belonging to poor sections of the society.

He appealed to the participants to come forward in large numbers and enroll themselves for availing the benefit under the schemes. He also enjoined upon them to spread further awareness among the people and encourage them to register under these social security schemes. Meanwhile, experts from Lead Bank Kupwara and other departments provided detailed awareness to the participants regarding the modus operandi of the schemes and the procedure for getting enrolled.
