REASI: Under the visionary leadership of Khalil Choudhary, Chairman District Legal Services Authority Reasi (also Pr. District and Sessions Judge) and the guidance of Secretary Pooja Gupta, Secretary, Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) of TLSC Katra organized an awareness programme on Right to Legal Aid at Panchayat Karua.

The PLVs informed the participants about free legal aid services available to eligible persons under the Legal Services Authorities Act. They elaborated on the functioning of Legal Aid Clinics and their right to access free legal assistance irrespective of their financial status.

The participants were also made aware about the procedure for availing legal aid, the role of PLVs and the schemes and initiatives undertaken by NALSA and J&K LSA for the welfare of marginalized communities. The programme witnessed active participation from the local residents, who appreciated the efforts of the Legal Services Authorities in spreading legal awareness at the grassroots level.

Another awareness programme on NALSA Helpline 15100 was conducted by the Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) of TLSC Mahore at village Dewal. Detailed information was disseminated regarding the benefits of the NALSA Helpline 15100. “The helpline enables individuals to seek legal advice, lodge grievances and avail legal services without any cost,” the PLVs informed.

When he appointed me Editor-in-Chief of JK Monitor, he never treated me as an employee, but as a younger brother, offering warmth, trust, respect and invaluable guidance. I will always be grateful for his faith in me, his encouragement and the lessons he shared.

Dr. Ranjan was a rare and noble soul—humble, compassionate, intellectually brilliant and always willing to help others. A visionary thinker, he believed in using knowledge and abilities to make a meaningful difference. His influence lives on through the people he guided, the work he inspired and the countless lives he touched.

For me, he will always be the elder brother who believed in me and guided me with affection. I will cherish his kindness and lessons forever. May his soul rest in eternal peace. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

A brilliant mind who studied at Netarhat Residential School and graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before earning his PhD from the University of Maryland, Dr. Ranjan chose to return to India and dedicate his life to teaching, research and social good.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. Priya, you will be deeply missed. Your life continues to remind us that knowledge finds its highest purpose in the service of others.
