RAJOURI: Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa today chaired the inaugural training session for the implementation of Carbon Neutral Panchayats plan in the district. The training focused on strategies to reduce carbon emissions at the grassroots level, promote sustainable practices, and enhance environmental conservation efforts in rural areas.

The session evaluated the preparedness of master trainers assigned with the task of implementation of the initiative. The ADDC emphasized the need for capacity building and conducting effective awareness campaigns to ensure the success of the program.

Dr. Thapa directed experts and stakeholders to discourage the use of old, high-emission vehicles and promote afforestation initiatives to improve carbon sequestration. He also stressed the importance of adopting renewable energy solutions, waste management techniques, and sustainable agricultural practices to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality in panchayats.

The training concluded with a commitment to intensify efforts for a cleaner and greener environment, with active participation from all stakeholders in making Rajouri’s panchayats carbon neutral. ACP Sheraz Ahmed, BDO Rajouri and officials from RDD, Health and ICDS departments attended the training program.
