In loving memory of Dr. Priya Ranjan: A mentor who treated me like family

GANDERBAL: In a significant step towards ensuring foolproof security preparedness for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026, police in Ganderbal conducted a comprehensive and high-intensity Joint Mock Drill at Malshahi-bagh Ganderbal & Sonamarg Z- Morh Tunnel, along the Yatra route.

The meticulously planned exercise was aimed at assessing the operational readiness, coordination, and swift response capabilities of all stakeholders in dealing with any unforeseen situation during the pilgrimage. The drill simulated multiple emergency scenarios including terror-related threats, medical emergencies, evacuation operations, stampede-like situations, natural calamities, and crowd management challenges.

The exercise witnessed active participation from J&K Police, Army, CAPF’s, SDRF, Fire & Emergency Services, Health Department and civil administration, reflecting seamless inter-agency coordination and unified preparedness for ensuring the safety and security of the pilgrims.

Special focus was laid on vulnerable stretches and strategically important locations where timely intervention and effective response are crucial. The teams practiced emergency response mechanisms, evacuation procedures, communication protocols, and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure maximum efficiency during real-time situations.

Senior officers from Ganderbal Police closely monitored the entire drill, reviewed the preparedness of the participating teams, and assessed the effectiveness of the response mechanisms. Valuable feedback and necessary directions were issued to further strengthen the security grid and operational readiness.

Police remains fully committed to provide a secure, peaceful, and hassle-free environment for the devotees undertaking the sacred pilgrimage of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026, reaffirming its dedication towards maintaining peace, safety, and public order throughout the Yatra period.
