JAMMU: Faculty and staff members from the School of Mechanical Engineering (SoME), Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) have successfully completed a two-week intensive training program on Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) JammuThe training program aimed at strengthening hands-on expertise in advanced manufacturing technologies was attended by Dr. Amit Kumar Sinha, Dr. Pardeep Kumar, Dr. Deepak Byotra, Mr. Arjun Kotwal, Mr. Chandan Sharma, Mr. Sunil Mehra, and Mr. Kewal Krishan

The participants gained practical exposure to CNC machining operations, programming, tooling, and precision manufacturing techniques, which are vital components of modern industrial practices. The program was conducted under the expert guidance of Dr. Akash Subhash Awale, Mr. Arun Kumar, Mr. Neeraj Kumar, Mr. Arul Benedict and Mr. Harish Bhardwaj from IIT Jammu. The structured training combined theoretical insights with extensive hands-on sessions, enabling participants to enhance their technical proficiency.

The trained faculty and staff will further disseminate the learning outcomes to students, thereby equipping them with industry-relevant skills and improving their employability.  Dr. Yathesth Anand, Head, School of Mechanical Engineering, appreciated the initiative and stated that such training programs play a crucial role in strengthening the academic and research ecosystem of the University. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Pragati Kumar, congratulated the participants on their successful completion of the program and emphasized the importance of continuous skill enhancement to keep pace with rapidly evolving manufacturing technologies.
