• BJP OBC Morcha Jammu South Holds Monthly Meeting

JAMMU: The Bharatiya Janata Party OBC Morcha, District Jammu South, convened its monthly meeting today to deliberate on organizational strengthening and key issues concerning the Other Backward Classes (OBC) community. The meeting focused on expanding outreach, reinforcing grassroots structure, and addressing pressing concerns of the community.

Sat Sharma, President, J&K BJP and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), accompanied by senior party leaders, attended the meeting and patiently heard the grievances and suggestions put forth by Morcha members and community representatives. He assured prompt and effective redressal of all genuine issues.

Rashpaul Verma, Vice President J&K BJP; Baldev Baloria, State General Secretary BJP; Braham Jyot Satti, State President BJP OBC Morcha; Naresh Singh Jasrotia, Parduman Singh, District Prabhari Jammu South; District President BJP Jammu South; Sunny Sangotra, State General Secretary OBC Morcha JKUT; Ram Paul, State Treasurer OBC Morcha, and Morcha District Prabhari Umesh Kumar Gabbar, were among the prominent present in the meeting, which was organized by Ashok Verma (Lucky), District President, BJP OBC Morcha.

During his address, Sat Sharma informed the gathering that he has written to Dr. Virendra Kumar, Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, urging the removal of the term “Rural Only” from the issuance of OBC certificates in Jammu & Kashmir.

He stated that a deputation of prominent OBC members, led by BJP OBC Morcha J&K President Braham Jyot Satti, had earlier submitted a memorandum highlighting that the Government of Jammu & Kashmir has already recommended deletion of the term “Rural Only” from the Central List of OBCs with respect to four communities — Potters (Kumhars), Barber, Washerman, and Teli.

Sharma further informed that the J&K Government had also sent a reminder to the Union Ministry on March 6, 2024, but the matter remains under consideration. He emphasized that removing the restrictive clause is a genuine and long-pending demand that would enable deprived sections to avail rightful benefits and opportunities.

Baldev Baloria appreciated the proactive functioning of the OBC Morcha across Jammu & Kashmir and lauded the grassroots efforts undertaken to strengthen the organization.

Braham Jyot Satti expressed gratitude to the party leadership for its continued guidance and support. Reaffirming faith in the leadership, he stated that the concerns of the OBC community are being actively pursued and are expected to be resolved soon.

Naresh Singh Jasrotia also commended the Morcha’s efforts, remarking that the OBC community forms the backbone of the nation and deserves focused attention and policy support.

Ashok Verma (Lucky) presented the vote of thanks and expressed appreciation to the senior leadership and participants for making the programme meaningful and productive.
