RAJOURI: In a significant step towards strengthening environmental conservation and promoting green cover, the District Administration Rajouri under the close supervision of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma in collaboration with Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University today conducted a mega plantation drive at the BGSBU campus. The drive witnessed enthusiastic participation of university staff, students and officials from various departments, reflecting a collective commitment towards safeguarding the environment and promoting sustainable development.
Around 300 saplings, including several fruit-bearing plants, were planted across different locations of the campus to enhance greenery, improve air quality and create a healthier ecosystem for students and faculty alike.
The DC said that plantation drives are not merely ceremonial activities but a long-term investment in the future of coming generations. He emphasized that increasing green cover is crucial to combat climate change, improve air quality and ensure ecological balance. He urged students and staff to take ownership of the planted saplings and ensure their proper care and growth.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Malikzada Sheraz ul Haq, Divisional Forest Officer, Naveed Mughal, Divisional Forest Officer Social Forestry, Rasheed Manhas, Chief Horticulture Officer, Sushil Kumar and District Horticulture Officer, Shafqat Mughal along with other district and sectoral officers participated in the plantation drive.
