RAJOURI: Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) today achieved a major developmental milestone with the commencement of construction work on its long-pending Indoor Sports Stadium—a flagship project that had remained stalled for several years despite its vital role in the University’s comprehensive growth.

The start of construction signifies the revival of a long-standing vision and reflects the renewed institutional confidence, administrative authority, and developmental momentum at the University. Beyond being a physical infrastructure addition, the Indoor Sports Stadium represents BGSBU’s steadfast commitment to student welfare, promotion of sports culture, and holistic development extending beyond academic pursuits.

For an institution of higher learning, infrastructure is not merely about erecting buildings, but about creating enabling spaces that nurture learning, foster community engagement, and enrich the overall campus environment. The proposed Indoor Sports Stadium is envisioned as a dynamic centre for sports activities, physical fitness, student interaction and cultural integration, further strengthening the University’s academic and social mandate.

The initiative conveys a clear and firm message regarding the ownership and planned utilization of University land. With the support of the district administration Rajouri, under the close supervision of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, the retrieval of University land and the launch of development activities have reaffirmed that BGSBU’s growth will be driven by structured planning, determination, transparency, and accountability.

The achievement has been made possible under the leadership of Vice Chancellor BGSBU, Prof. Jawaid Iqbal, whose focused and result-oriented approach has transformed long-pending aspirations into visible progress on the ground.

Members of the University fraternity have welcomed the development as a defining moment in BGSBU’s journey, underscoring that projects once considered stalled can be successfully revived through strong leadership, effective coordination, and collective resolve.
