District and Sessions Judge Reasi), Khalil Choudhary and Secretary, Pooja Gupta, District Legal Service Authority Reasi organised two awareness programmes themed “Protect Today, Secure Tomorrow”.
The awareness events, organized under Environmental Legal Literacy & Community Protection Initiative, were held in Ransoo Market and Pouni to enhance environmental legal literacy among the masses regarding pollution exposure, guidance on understanding air quality levels, recognising unsafe environmental conditions and adopting practical, low cost preventive measures such as use of masks etc.
Another awareness program was organised on Drug Awareness & Wellness Navigation (DAWN)" Scheme at Panchayat Ghar Diddi Pangal, Katra in collaboration with the District Social Welfare Department. Jyoti Case Worker One Stop Centre was the resource person. She sensitized the public about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the need for prevention and rehabilitation. Participants were informed about available counselling, de-addiction and legal support services. The programme aimed to promote a healthy, drug-free society through awareness and community participation.
One more awareness programme was held on prevention of child marriage under the ASHA Scheme of NALSA at Legal Liability Club Theot. Para Legal Volunteers Mohan Singh, Shamsher Singh and Rachana Devi explained the legal protection against child marriage under the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006. Information regarding free legal aid, counselling, and support services available through Legal Services Authorities was also shared.
