In his address, Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel Budgam, emphasized that educators are entitled to various legal rights such as due process, academic freedom, freedom of speech and association, protection from discrimination and harassment, as well as rights pertaining to employment contracts and tenure etc.

He said, these rights, derived from laws, constitutional provisions, and collective bargaining agreements, may vary across jurisdictions and institutions but are fundamentally aimed at ensuring fair treatment, job security, and a supportive environment that enables educators to perform their duties effectively and without fear of unjust reprisal.

Assistant Legal Aid Defence Counsel Budgam highlighted the significance of education in promoting legal literacy and ensuring access to justice. He emphasized that education empowers individuals by making them aware of their rights and duties, enabling them to identify and address injustices, and fostering civic engagement and accountability.

He said such awareness is vital for ensuring access to justice, particularly for marginalized communities, as it equips them to understand their legal options, navigate the justice system, and demand fair and transparent governance. Teachers and students of GHSS Budgam actively participated in the programme and showed their enthusiasm towards the awareness.
