UDHAMPUR: International snakebite awareness day was observed today in Udhampur District with a series of awareness activities across all six health blocks of Basantgarh, Chenani, Majalta, Panchari, Ramnagar and Tikri.
Special programmes were organized in schools where health teams sensitized children about snakebite prevention, recognition of symptoms, and the importance of timely medical treatment. Health institutions in rural areas also actively engaged with the community, spreading awareness about the risks of snakebites and informing them about locally available medical resources.
As part of the ongoing Sewa Parv celebrations, medical camps were held in different areas, guiding people on preventive measures such as wearing protective footwear and avoiding movement through tall grass. To build empathy and awareness, stories of snakebite survivors were shared with the community.
