SRINAGAR: Social Welfare Department (SWD) through Mission Vatsalya, today organized a commemorative programme on the occasion of Veer Bal Diwas at Child Care Institution (CCI) Palash Shalimar.

Veer Bal Diwas is observed annually on 26th December to honour the extraordinary bravery and martyrdom of Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh, the younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. The day symbolizes unwavering faith, righteousness, and courage against oppression, inspiring the youth to uphold moral values and national integrity.

The event was organized by the District Social Welfare Officer/District Child Protection Officer, Srinagar and was attended by the Chairperson and members of the Child Welfare Committee, Srinagar.

Children from various CCIs (boys and girls) of Srinagar District, along with participants from Budgam District and registered private CCIs, actively took part in the programme.

A series of activities including drawing, essay writing, singing, and quiz competitions were conducted. Cultural performances and aerobatic acts added vibrancy to the event and captivated the audience. The programme aimed to nurture creativity, showcase talent, and enhance self-esteem and confidence among children.

Addressing the gathering, the Chairperson emphasized the importance of such initiatives in empowering children and providing them with platforms for holistic growth and self-expression. Later,  participating children were felicitated for their performances, and words of encouragement were extended by the guests to motivate them for future endeavors.
