GANDERBAL: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ganderbal, Under the supervision of Abdul Nasir, Chairman, DLSA Ganderbal and under the guidance of Sheikh Babar Hussain Secretary DLSA Ganderbal, a legal awareness programme on Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana, 2025 was organised at 24 RR Camp Duderhama Ganderbal.
The programme aimed to sensitise serving Army personnel, ex-servicemen and their dependent family members regarding the legal assistance and support available under Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana 2025 an initiative of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) aimed at ensuring access to free legal aid and assistance for defence personnel, paramilitary personnel, ex-servicemen and their eligible dependents.
During the session, Tanvir Ashraf, Assistant Legal Aid Defence Counsel Ganderbal and Aasimah Khaliq, Assistant Legal Aid Defence Counsel Ganderbal highlighted the constitutional objective of equal access to justice and explained the framework of free legal services provided under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987. They elaborated the role of District Legal Services Authorities in providing legal assistance, counselling, mediation and representation to eligible beneficiaries.
They further explained the objectives of Veer Parivar Sahayata Yojana, 2025 including free legal advice, representation and assistance in matters relating to service issues, matrimonial disputes, property disputes, succession and other legal concerns. They emphasised that the scheme ensures that defence personnel and their families are not deprived of access to justice due to service commitments, financial constraints or remote postings.
The resource persons apprised the participants about the procedure for availing legal services through DLSA. She explained the functioning of legal aid clinics, counselling facilities, mediation services and the role of Legal Aid Defence Counsel in assisting eligible persons.
Furthermore, the participants were sensitised about the importance of timely legal advice and informed them that DLSA Ganderbal provides free legal assistance, representation and guidance to eligible beneficiaries in accordance with the provisions of the Legal Services Authorities Act 1987. An interactive session followed wherein various queries raised by the participants were answered by the resource persons.
