SHOPIAN, SOPORE: Continuing its sustained efforts to eradicate the drug menace under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Police in collaboration with local residents conducted a special anti-narcotic drives in Shopian & Sopore and destroyed wild cannabis.

In Shopian, Police in collaboration with local residents conducted a special anti-narcotics drive in the jurisdiction of Police Station Imamsahib. During the drive, police teams conducted a thorough survey of various areas where wild cannabis plants were found growing naturally along roadsides, footpaths, agricultural land boundaries, irrigation channels and other unattended patches of land. The identified plants were uprooted and destroyed on the spot to prevent their misuse for the production or consumption of narcotic substances.

Meanwhile in Sopore, during joint drives by police along with Revenue and Excise Departments destroyed wild cannabis at multiple locations across PD Sopore.

The initiative forms part of the ongoing efforts of J&K Police under Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan to eliminate potential sources of narcotic substances and promote a drug-free society. Police appeals to the general public to remain vigilant and report any instances of illegal cultivation, drug trafficking or substance abuse to the nearest police station.
