PULWAMA, ANANTNAG: Continuing its sustained crackdown against narcotics under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Police arrested two drug peddlers in Pulwama and Anantnag and recovered significant quantity of contraband substances from their possession.
In Pulwama, a police party of Police Station Kakapora during naka checking at Kakapora Bridge, intercepted a suspicious person, who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully. During search, 1.460 kg of charas (in stick form) and 2.5 grams of brown sugar-like substance were recovered from his possession. The accused identified as Muzamil Gul son of Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh resident of Samboora was subsequently arrested.
In Anantnag, a police party of Police Station Srigufwara intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration No. JK03B-5513 at Hugam Crossing. During search, approximately 6.09 grams of charas was recovered from the rider, identified as Huzaif Bhat son of Ghulam Bhat resident of Poshkreeri. The individual also appeared to be under the influence of narcotic and psychotropic substances. He was subsequently taken to a hospital for a preliminary medical examination, where he tested positive for consumption of narcotic drugs.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation have been taken up to trace the source and intended destination of the contraband.
