- Devotional gathering in Trikuta Nagar aims to strengthen cultural values, youth participation and collective pursuit of peace, prosperity and national progress
JAMMU: Shiv Mandir, Sector-7, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, is preparing to observe the sacred occasion of Shani Amavasya on May 16, 2026 (Saturday) with deep religious devotion and community participation. The temple will host a mass recitation of the Hanuman Chalisa from 6 PM onwards, accompanied by elaborate arrangements for prasad distribution to all devotees attending the gathering.
The programme was announced at a press conference addressed by Mandir Committee President Shiv Kumar Jolly, along with senior committee members Vijay Vaid, Urmil Arora, Dr. R. L. Handoo, Nanaji Raina, Rajesh Gupta, Thakur Sameer Ji, Pandit Pankaj, and Pandit Mohinder. The committee informed that preparations are in full swing, including arrangements for seating, devotional setup, sound system, lighting, crowd management, and prasad distribution to ensure a smooth and spiritually enriching experience for devotees.
Speaking on the occasion, the organisers emphasized that observance of Shani Amavasya and collective chanting of Hanuman Chalisa go beyond ritual worship and represent a deeper reaffirmation of values enshrined in Sanatan Dharma. They stated that such spiritual congregations act as a strong medium for preserving India’s ancient cultural and philosophical traditions, which have historically guided society towards righteousness, discipline, and compassion.
The committee further observed that in today’s rapidly changing social environment, religious and cultural programmes play a vital role in connecting younger generations with their roots. They noted that participation of youth in such events helps instill moral values, self-discipline, and respect for heritage, while also strengthening a sense of unity and shared identity within the community. According to them, these cultural engagements act as a guiding force in steering youth away from distractions and towards constructive and value-based living.
Highlighting the broader national perspective, the organisers stated that such community-driven spiritual initiatives also contribute indirectly to the larger vision of peace, prosperity, and inclusive national progress. They remarked that it is the collective moral responsibility of society to ensure that cultural strength and spiritual awareness continue to guide development efforts, particularly as India moves towards the goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047 (Viksit Bharat @2047).
The Mandir Committee has appealed to devotees from Trikuta Nagar, Jammu city, and adjoining areas to participate in large numbers, seek blessings of Lord Shani, and join the collective chanting of Hanuman Chalisa. The event, they said, is intended to serve as a spiritually uplifting gathering that reinforces faith, harmony, and community bonding.
