REASI: As part of its commitment to empowering young girls and fostering a healthier future, Department of Social Welfare, Reasi organised a significant outreach programme under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme at Govt. Middle School Sherpur, Zone Reasi, Block Katra. During the programme, District Social Welfare Officer Sachin Sharma distributed 41 School Bags and 15 Hygiene Kits among the adolescent girl students of the host School and Primary School Gunni. More than 100 students participated in the event.
Speaking on the occasion, the DSWO Reasi laid emphasis on Menstrual Hygiene management, gender equality, women empowerment and girls education. He also threw light on the hazardous consequences of using drugs and motivated the students to act as the ambassadors to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society. The DSWO further encouraged the students to participate in sports activities for the holistic development of their body, mind and spirit.
The event also highlighted the link between health and education, emphasizing how addressing basic hygiene can address the issue of high dropout rate among young girls and overall well being of females. It further supported the goals of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, promoting healthier lifestyles and discouraging harmful practices.
The children and faculty were also made aware about various Children- centric schemes available for the welfare of children. Headmistress, Kanchan Bala of Govt. Middle School Sherpur culminated the programme with a vote of thanks and acknowledged the efforts of Social Welfare Department and District Administration, Reasi for one of its kind initiatives under the BBBP scheme. District Mission Coordinator, Monika Sharma Teachers of GMS Sherpur were also present.
