SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) on Saturday congratulated Prof. Mohammad Mahtab Alam Rizvi on his appointment as the new officiating Registrar of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), New Delhi. The Association said that Prof. Rizvi, a distinguished academic and currently the Director of the Nelson Mandela Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution, brings a wealth of experience to his new role.
Congratulating him, the National Convenor of the Association, Nasir Khuehami, expressed confidence that Prof. Rizvi would excel in his responsibilities, leveraging his extensive experience to lead the university to new heights and restore its past glory. Khuehami added, âThere are fundamental issues that require immediate and focused attention to transform Jamia into a world-class institution and a premier seat of learning.â
Khuehami emphasized the importance of fostering a student-friendly environment at the university. He said, âWe urge and hope that Prof. Rizvi will prioritize creating a positive atmosphere on campus, addressing issues such as nepotism, hostel problems, and anti-student policies with fairness and merit.â âWith his academic and administrative expertise, wisdom, and action-oriented approach, we believe that Jamia Millia Islamia will make significant strides in education, research, and improving the quality of student life,â Khuehami said.
Describing Prof. Rizvi as a dedicated academician and researcher, Khuehami assured that the Association would extend its full cooperation in achieving the nationâs aspirations for one of Indiaâs most prestigious universities. He asserted that, The entire Association looks forward to collaborating closly with him to strengthen the institution. The JKSA has high expectations for Prof. Rizvi's leadership and anticipates a transformative and progressive tenure at Jamia Millia Islamia. Khuehami reaffirmed the Associationâs commitment to supporting Prof. Rizvi in advancing the universityâs growth and development.
The Association expressed optimism that this appointment would greatly benefit both the university and its students. Meanwhile, Khuehami also highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by hundreds of Kashmiri students at Jamia Millia, particularly in securing on-campus accommodation, despite the existence of a dedicated hostel built specifically for them.
He expressed hope that Prof. Rizvi would address the hostel accommodation crisis affecting Kashmiri students at the university. Khuehami stressed that resolving this issue would not only provide much-needed relief to Kashmiri students but also serve as a positive gesture in building trust and confidence among the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. âWe look forward to supporting Prof. Rizvi's initiatives and believe that his leadership will continue to inspire and guide students, fostering an environment of academic excellence, social harmony, and constructive dialogue.
