JAMMU: Director Horticulture Jammu Gul Syed today chaired a virtual meeting with the District Level Subject Matter Specialists of Jammu Province to review the overall functioning of the District Level SMS system (DLSMS).
The meeting was also attended by the Joint Director Salil Gupta; Deputy Director Central Mukesh Sharma; Assistant Director Sunil Gupta, officers of the Technical Section and Soil Analyst Ashwani Sharma.
During the meeting, emphasis was laid on generating awareness among farmers about the horticulture schemes through SMS services and ensuring timely dissemination of technical guidance at the grassroots level.
The Director stressed the importance of providing advisory services to farmers, particularly in the areas of insect and pest management, crop protection measures and other technical aspects to enhance productivity and quality of horticulture crops.
He further directed the officers to intensify awareness campaigns regarding key horticulture schemes, including CSS, ATMA, HADP, MIDH, and RMHDP, so that the maximum number of farmers can avail benefits under these programmes.
The meeting concluded with a call for coordinated efforts to strengthen outreach mechanisms and ensure that farmers receive accurate, timely, and need-based information for informed decision-making.
