KULGAM:  Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kulgam,Viqar Ahmed Giri today chaired a meeting of the District Level Telecom Committee (DLTC) to review the status of telecom infrastructure and deliberate on measures for strengthening digital connectivity across the district.

During the meeting, a comprehensive review was held on the progress of the BharatNet Project, aimed at expanding high-speed broadband connectivity to rural areas. The chair also reviewed the status of additional mobile tower sites proposed for the district, the progress of Category-I and Category-III telecom sites, and issues concerning non-availability of suitable land for installation of telecom infrastructure.

Representatives from the BSNL, KPDCL, Public Works Department (R&B), Forest Department, Pollution Control Committee, Municipal Committees and other telecom service providers briefed the chair on the progress achieved and highlighted the issues requiring inter-departmental coordination.

The ADC stressed the importance of robust telecom infrastructure in improving digital governance, education, healthcare, emergency response and overall socio-economic development. He directed all concerned departments to work in close coordination for the timely resolution of pending issues, particularly those related to land availability, power connectivity and statutory clearances, so that telecom projects are implemented without avoidable delays.

The meeting was attended by members of the District Level Telecom Committee, representatives of the department of Telecommunications, BSNL, Airtel, Jio and other concerned departments.
