PULWAMA: Police in Pulwama has intensified its drive against illegal mining activities across the district and achieved success in two separate actions conducted by Police Post Newa and Police Station Litter.

In the first incident, during routine patrolling at Rabitar, a police party of Police Post Newa noticed an excavator engaged in illegal extraction/mining of clay without any valid permission or authorization. The excavator involved in the illegal mining activity was seized on spot. Accordingly, FIR No. 81/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Pulwama and investigation has been taken up.

In another action, a police party from Police Station Litter seized one JCB involved in illegal mining in the Rambiara Nala area. In this regard, case FIR No. 58/2026 under sections 303(2) BNS and 3 PPD Act has been registered at PS Litter and investigation has been initiated.

Police remains committed towards strict action against illegal mining activities and appeals to the general public to cooperate with police in protecting natural resources and maintaining ecological balance.
