RAMGARH: World Environment Day was celebrated with a massive Tree Plantation Drive organized by MY Bharat Jammu under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, in collaboration with the Nations Development Association (NDA) and Self Help Group Khour Salarian. MLA Ramgarh and former Minister for Health & Medical Education, J&K, Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and inaugurated the plantation drive.
The plantation drive was conducted at Government Middle School Khour Salarian, Government Higher Secondary School Nandpur, Primary Health Centre Nandpur, Naib Tehsil Office Nandpur, and Village Nanga in Ramgarh. Saplings were planted across these locations to promote environmental conservation, enhance green cover, and raise awareness about the importance of building a greener and healthier future.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Manyal emphasized that environmental protection is a collective responsibility and urged citizens, particularly the youth, to actively participate in plantation drives and adopt sustainable environmental practices. He stated that every tree planted today is an investment in a cleaner environment and a healthier future for coming generations.
Keshav Dutt Sharma, Former DDC Chairman Samba, attended the programme as the Guest of Honour. Among the other dignitaries present were Naveen Sharma, President Swankha; Darshan Singh, BDC Chairman; Sushil Singh Charak, Chief Functionary, NDA; Harvinder Singh, OBC President Samba; Meenakshi Devi, Community Mobilizer; and former Sarpanch Roop Lal.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, youth volunteers, members of Self Help Groups, community representatives, and local residents, who collectively pledged to protect and nurture the saplings planted during the drive.
Speaking on the significance of World Environment Day, the participants highlighted the need for collective action to address environmental challenges and strengthen community-led efforts for sustainable development. The event concluded with a renewed commitment towards environmental conservation and the shared vision of creating a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable society for future generations.
