THE SILENCE OF A NEWSROOM: THE SURVIVAL FIGHT OF JK MONITOR: For sixteen years, JK Monitor has stood as an unwavering digital chronicle of Jammu and Kashmir—giving voice to the voiceless, highlighting grassroots triumphs, and upholding journalistic integrity. Since 2010, I have steered its operations as Editor-in-Chief. Yet, behind every headline stood our visionary Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan. A VISIONARY BLUEPRINT & MENTOR : Dr. Ranjan was an intellectual powerhouse—an alumnus of Netarhat, an IIT Kharagpur engineer, and a Ph.D. from the University of Maryland. He founded JK Monitor not for clickbait, but to empower communities through authentic public discourse. He embraced me as a younger brother with warmth, trust, and continuous mentorship, guiding us through complex regional landscapes. OCTOBER 2026: A SUDDEN SILENCE: Our bedrock shifted irrevocably in October 2026 with Dr. Ranjan's sudden, tragic demise. For a real-time news portal, losing its visionary architect was catastrophic. Overnight, our newsroom lost its heartbeat, and the financial vacuum brought daily operations to an agonizing standstill. A LEGACY HANGING BY A THREAD: Today, we face a critical crossroads. Struggling to cover basic operational costs, our 24/7 live news service risks becoming merely a static digital archive—a frozen library paying tribute to Dr. Ranjan. Beyond November 2026, active real-time reporting may cease entirely. A RAY OF HOPE: We extend an urgent appeal to our readers, patrons, and well-wishers to step forward. Your support can keep our daily newsroom intact, vibrant, and alive. Otherwise, this hard-earned legacy will remain frozen in time while our living news outlet falls permanently silent. JAMMU: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu & Kashmir General Secretary Baldev Singh Billawaria held a meeting with the Sadar Bazaar Shopkeepers Association at Satwari Cantonment, Jammu, to discuss issues and challenges faced by local traders. The meeting was organized under the leadership of Rajesh Gupta, President of the Sadar Bazaar Shopkeepers Association, and provided a platform for shopkeepers to voice their concerns and seek support from party representatives.

Billawaria was accompanied by J&K BJP All Cell Convenor Ved Raj Sharma and J&K BJP Tourism Cell Convenor Bharat Bhushan. During the meeting, office bearers of the association and local shopkeepers elaborately highlighted the basic issues prevailing in the market area. A major demand raised was the construction of a proper drainage system to permanently resolve the problem of waterlogging during the rainy season.

The traders also brought attention to a serious concern regarding the elevation of the road level, which has been raised higher than the shop floors. As a result, rainwater enters the shops during heavy rainfall, causing significant financial losses to business owners. The association demanded that the road and shop levels be made uniform to prevent future waterlogging and damage.

Baldev Singh Billawaria listened carefully to the concerns of the traders and assured them that these issues would be taken up with the concerned departments and the administration on a priority basis, and efforts would be made for their early resolution. He emphasized that a robust and scientific drainage system is essential to ensure a permanent solution to the problem.

He stated that Sadar Bazaar is not merely a commercial hub but a source of livelihood for hundreds of families. The shopkeepers have been playing a crucial role in strengthening the local economy for years. Therefore, addressing their fundamental issues is the primary responsibility of the administration and public representatives, he added. Billawaria further said that the BJP government is working on the principle of ā€œSabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas,ā€ and the interests of traders remain a top priority.

He assured that shopkeepers of Sadar Bazaar would not be allowed to face any inconvenience and that all pending and incomplete development works in the area would be brought to the notice of the concerned MLA and completed on priority. Sadar Bazaar Shopkeepers Association President Rajesh Gupta expressed hope that with the cooperation and guidance of BJP Jammu & Kashmir General Secretary Baldev Singh Billawaria, the administration would ensure prompt resolution of traders’ issues, enabling smooth and uninterrupted business activities in the market area.
